What to Know About Out-of-Network Coverage

Being Out-of-Network Doesn’t Always Mean Paying Out of Pocket

A question we hear often is what happens if a patient’s plan isn’t on our in-network list. The honest answer is that it depends on your plan, and it’s worth a conversation before you assume care isn’t within reach. Many PPO plans include out-of-network benefits, which means a portion of your treatment may still be covered even if we’re not a preferred provider on your plan. Routine preventive care, like cleanings and exams, is frequently reimbursed even for out-of-network visits.

If your plan isn’t listed above, we encourage you to call our office. Our front desk team can help you think through your options, and in many cases, patients are pleasantly surprised by what their plan will cover. We also offer flexible financing options through CareCredit and Cherry, as well as an in-house membership plan for patients without traditional insurance coverage, so there’s always a path forward.

We’ve worked hard to renegotiate our rates with several PPO carriers to bring more value to our patients, and we continue to evaluate our network participation to serve the New Smyrna Beach community as broadly as we can. Whether you’re covered by a major PPO, carry a government plan, or are looking for an alternative to traditional insurance, our goal is to make sure cost concerns don’t stand between you and the dental care you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know insurance can feel like a lot to sort through. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most from new and returning patients.

How do I know if my insurance is accepted before I come in?

The best way is to call our office directly. Our team can look up your plan, confirm your network status, and give you a clear picture of what to expect before your appointment. We’d rather talk it through up front than have you walk in with unanswered questions.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

Patients without traditional dental insurance have options at our practice. Our in-house membership plan covers all exams, x-rays, and cleanings for a healthy mouth for $299 per year and includes a 20% discount on additional treatments. We also work with CareCredit and Cherry to offer flexible monthly payment plans for larger restorative or cosmetic procedures.

Does Medicare cover dental care at your practice?

We accept select Medicare Advantage plans. Traditional Medicare does not typically cover routine dental care, but some Medicare Advantage plans do include dental benefits. We recommend calling your plan directly to confirm what’s covered, and our team is happy to help you navigate that conversation.
